The Château de Dions, also known as Château des Buissières, is located west of Dions, a village in Gard, between Nîmes and Uzès. Historically, nicknamed "villa de Dion", this castle has

among the places mentioned in the archives of the Château d'Uzès. A document dated 1157 states that the bishop of Uzès was originally the overlord.

If its purely medieval character no longer exists today, its archives contain burrows, the oldest of which date back to the 14th century, attesting to the precedence of the lords of Dions over the inhabitants of the surrounding area. It was used by Pope Urban II and Raymond de Saint-Gilles for

prepare for the first crusade. Over the centuries, the castle has undergone many alterations to become today an elegant residence overlooking the Gardon valley. Its splendid terrace rests on walls closed at the corners by turrets and traversed by underground passages whose paternity is attributed to Jacques Philippe Mareschal (1698-1778) to whom we owe the development of the Jardins de la Fontaine and the plans of the Roman discoveries made then. A large ornate gate gives access to a shaded park with rare species with two majestic cedars of Lebanon.

In the 18th century, it was Charles François de Trinquelague-Dions (1747-1837), lawyer, Councilor of State, first president at the court of Montpellier, squire to the King and officer of the Legion of Honor. Lord of the castle, he received the title of baron by royal decree of

February 20, 1824. Since that time the property has remained in the hands of his descendants. Of a summer residence, the castle was made habitable all year round in the middle of the 20th century.
