Enjoy a unique moment in a place filled with history
The Château de Dions, also called ' Les buissières ' is in the west side of Dions, a little village in the Gard.
Historically nicknamed
"villa de Dion", this château is mentioned in the archives of the château d'Uzès ', dating as far as 1157.
The oldest archives date back from the XIV century, mentioning the Lords of Dions ruling over the inhabitants of the village and the surraoundings.
Through the centuries, the château has known many refurbishments and ameliorations to make it nowadays an elegant house towering over the Gardon valley.
The splendid terrace is surrounded by stoned ramparts and comprises towers in each corner of the walls.
These walls are enclosed with underground tunnels created bu Jacques Philippe Mareschal
( 1698-1778 ) who also created the Jardins de la Fontaine of Nîmes and multiple Roman discoveries.
In the XVII century , it was Charles Francois de Trinquelague -Dions ( 1747-1837 ), lawyer, councillor tu the state, first president of the high court in Montpellier, grand squire of the King's household and officer in the legion.
Lord of the château, he received the title of the title of baron granted by the king on the 20th of February 1824.
